Off she went . . .

I woke up with mom this morning at the lovely hour of 4:30 - or was it 4:45?
Does it make a difference at that point?
I stayed in bed for a while, but got up at around 5:15 or so after she'd showered and dressed. I brushed my teeth, and then made my lunch while she finished packing up and made tea.
A short while later, we said our goodbyes and she was gone.
I stood on my front step in my white slippers and maroon bathrobe and watched the suburban until it turned the corner, my eyes brimming. . . chin buckling up. I haven't teared up at our parting in a while.
This visit was too short. I was working so much, I only took a few days off - and those days we were busy or the weather was bad. There were things I wanted to do with her that we just didn't get around to doing because I was too busy working.
We did some fantastic plant-buying and mom did the lion's share of the perennial-planting while I was at work. Dave and I planted the annuals last weekend. My garden looks great and, with a little luck and cooperation from nature, will look absolutely beautiful. Thanks, mom!
I miss her.
