So I'm back in the lab, waiting for lab meeting (at 9:30) and a sense of direction. The space that once contained my bench has now been assimilated/hijacked/overwhelmed by the lab that currently holds half of this floor. These people really know how to pack a room. It's silly, but I keep thinking of the Borg.

There are still some things in the drawers, but going into that space right now is pretty uncomfortable, so I'll just leave them until I have a bench. Again.

*sigh*

In the meantime, I'm reading some articles in Molecular Microbiology and Applied and Environmental Microbiology, when I come across two articles from a few of my collaborators. Good to know that all that work I did for them (a) didn't show up in the paper because the results weren't what they wanted and (b) wasn't acknowledged. No, neither (a) nor (b) were needed or necessary or even appropriate, but *pout* anyway.

So I searched for myself in the Science Citation Index. Surely, I thought, by now one of my articles has been cited (by someone other than myself in that review article). I was right! A Journal of Bacteriology paper from a Boston University group cited my Mol Micro cover article. Wahoo! That was in December of '04, though, and there haven't been any since. . . Time will tell.

Ego searches on Google are fun, yes, but ego searches on citation indices can be even more fun.
