Alright, kids
Feb. 22nd, 2007 12:20 pmCan you hear this?
I can hear it if I turn my computer up all the way and lean into the speaker, but even then it's more of an uncomfortable sensation than an identifiable sound. I can't wrap my brain around it enough to describe what it was. Now, two of my coworkers can hear it quite clearly, so much so that they cry out in despair each time it's played. Good news for those of us who are immune - we have the perfect means of coworker torture :)
So I guess this is possibly NSFW, but only because you may drive your officemates batty, or deafen them. Listen at your own risk.
My big question is, would I have heard this pre-pregnancy, when I was Little Miss Migraine? Curiouser and curiouser. . . .
In other news, I gave my presentation to the directors yesterday and they were well-pleased. Yay me! Now I get to begin designing one of the tests.
1. Research
2. Recommend testing strategies
3. Design testing strategies
4. Take it to market
5. PROFIT
Wahoo!
I only wish I could have brought profits in sooner, so maybe I'd see some it in the form of paid maternity leave :-/
I'm still working on that, though. If I could figure out a way to work from home without losing my employment status, all would be right with my world. Any ideas on that?
And lastly, I simply must mention that yet one more voice from my past has reappeared - and right here in my li'l ol' blog. *waves to Susan* This tells me I need to head back to the ARAMCO brats forum to post a refresher. Maybe even more friends will find me!

Date: February 22nd, 2007 06:57 pm (UTC)Among my workmates, we have a 33- and a 29-year-old who can hear it, but the 27-, 29- (me) and 48-year old can not. We thought it may be a male-female thing, until our lab director came in and promptly fell all over herself reaching for the volume control.
Damn kids today are already going deef listening to their confounded music machines, now they've got this.

Date: February 23rd, 2007 01:52 am (UTC)Funny thing is, when my coworker (who can hear it through the computer) put the ring tone on his PDAphone, I could hear it. THEN I could hear how obnoxious it must be at full volume, but I obviously didn't get the full effect. How strange.

Re: universe..
Date: February 23rd, 2007 01:19 pm (UTC)Seriously, this is getting crazy. So many people are finding me all of a sudden! So cool.
As for the migraine stuff, I did finally go to a neuropsychologist who taught me about relaxation and meditation techniques. It helped immensely, although there will always be a doozy to break through here and there. I just hope they don't come back after the baby arrives!!

Date: February 23rd, 2007 01:20 pm (UTC)Now I want to know why some people can hear it and others can't. I'm guessing it's something to do with those little bitty bones in our ears. . .
