LJ keeps eating my comments. . .
Dec. 29th, 2006 08:48 amI wonder if it will eat my post, too.
This is awkward. We've signed up for cord blood banking with Viacord. We felt very strongly about doing it, and are glad we have. Howsomever, it is an expensive undertaking - one for which we could use all the help we can get. Viacord, knowing this, has a cord blood banking registry, whereby new baby well-wishers can make contributions.
I think that's pretty cool, since friends and family can give the gift of Life, rather than the gift of Stuff.
So what's awkward? The way the registry works is awkward. See, I have to send "invitations" to people to get them to the registry. . . something I don't feel comfortable doing, except with perhaps our immediate family. Still, I want everyone to know about it, in case anyone else feels equally strongly about our choice, and because I've learned that many people want to give, but they want to know what we need or want them to give.
In that spirit, I wanted to let folks know about the registry and, if you're remotely interested, I'll put you on my Viacord registry e-mail list. You'll get the invitation, and you can do with it what you will :)
Is that tacky? I hope not.
Anyhoo, comments are screened. Leave your e-mail addy if you're curious.
