I'm sitting here in the lab staring at the remaining 10 reaction tubes from a 40-reaction set. TURN YELLOW FASTER!!!!

They're not listening to me.

So, before I become impatient and stop the reactions whether they're as yellow as I want them to be or not, I thought I'd toss a few words in the journal.

I went geocaching with [livejournal.com profile] ashfault76 and some other friends yesterday. What a blast! After finding our first cache (a real easy one, located in the park right by my house), Adrienne suggested that we needed a team name. I thought up the Dukes of Biohazzard, and everyone loved it. And so, our team was born. Later, Francis did a little photoshop work so we even have a picture to go along with our geocache team profile :-) It's a picture of the "Scientifica Lee" flying over Boss Hogg's patrol car. Yeeeeeeeehaw!

We got drenched in a downpour on our second cache hunt, but we found every cache we sought - all but the last, which was only the size of a tiny breath-strip container. I suspect it may have been lost, or perhaps we needed to have gotten down on our hands and knees to find it. Either way, four out of five for a first time out certainly isn't bad. I look forward to more challenging cache hunts in the future. Preferably on days with less. . . sky drippage, although I think I looked kinda cute in the wet cami :-)

Lawnmower update The lawnmower got its house call, as scheduled, but the serviceman (a) fixed things I didn't ask to be fixed and (b) further aggravated the choke cable problem by, oh, fucking up the choke cable. *sigh* I made a phone call to the friendly ladies in OHIO (why should I have to call Ohio for this?!?), and explained for the fourth time the problem with the choke cable and the fact that yet another service man had ignored and exacerbated the problem. The woman ordered the cable for me, is sending it to my house, and with any luck - perhaps a frickin' MIRACLE - the mower will actually be FIXED this Thursday. I'll let you know. Who would have thought a silly little think like a cable would take FOUR separate requests, over TWO months, and TWO housecalls to get fixed? Unbelievable.

Still waiting for $356 from Megadeath. Still waiting to hear whether Risk Management has gotten Unity Physicians Grp's dogs off my back (and whether the Bloomington Hospital folks are also going to be satisfied). I'll call tomorrow.

Also waiting to hear from the appraiser and mortgage broker. Will call them tomorrow, too. I'd rather be proactive in these issues. I really have to get this refi or I'll be in some serious money hole.

I think that's all the news that may or may not be fit to print in my world. My students are, well, meh. So-so. One is pretty much gone now. It's just Joey. Every time I think we've made a step forward, I find that although he's putting in the time, there's always something going wrong. I'm going to have to watch his every move. That means I have to somehow be here every minute that he's here - which means I have to become a mind reader. That only comes after I give birth, doesn't it?

Uh oh.

*sigh*

Onto happier things!!

Happy Birthday Dad!!!

Welcome to your golden years, big boy! *wink* No, really. You and mom have some pretty fantastic plans and I'm really excited for you. I can't wait to see it all start happening. It really does feel like a whole new phase of your life is beginning, but it's new and young. Pretty cool. Lotsa love to you and a big hug.
