Well, the jury is in. The new additions to the Ramey family are adorable and they now have names. I have taken pictures of them, but since I'm still a bit of a troglodyte, we have to wait until I get the film developed before I can share them with you.

Sorry.

Their names are Rosalind and Franklin. :-D

*giggle* I grin whenever I think of them.

Rosalind and Franklin were playing this morning as I got ready. I was sitting in the bathroom while they tussled in the other room. . . I could hear Rosalind squealing. They tumbled into the spare room, into my view. Franklin ran off, leaving Rosalind swaying a little bit, looking at me. I sat there and said, "Roz, don't let him beat you like that." She walked over to me (I'm still sitting in the bathroom), right up in between my feet, sat down, and leaned against my ankles, looking up at me.

I swear to god, I melted on the spot.

I scritched her head and her neck and back, as she stood up and started to walk around my ankles doing little figure eights, rubbing all the way, mewling and looking up at me. Yep. She loves me already.

Franklin, on the other hand, is a bouncer, a bounder, a leaper and a runner. He's gonna be trouble, that one. Oh, what fun.

Christie, meanwhile, took some time off from under the bed to scout the kids out, but then went back to her pouting place. These things take time. She knows I still love her, but she's really questioning her position in the world, right now.

Me? I'm in love with all of them, but I'm worried about them, too. Kind of like the situation with my project. I'm in love with my thesis project, so to speak, but it's currently stressing me to pieces.

I have a full day ahead of me, and it's already late. I'm going to go get started. {hugs} to all of you, and to any new visitors ;-)

Rosalind and Franklin, huh. Cute. Only a biologist...

Of course, Rosalind's letting Franklin beat her up. It's her legacy, isn't it? ;-)

By the way, sweetie, you should be receiving a package soon at Jordan Hall.

Kitties!!!!

Sorry... had to do it.

Herman the Wonderfish is great... but sometimes it's just fun to have a vibrating ball of fur to play with.

Rosalind Franklin was a molecular biologist who worked with Watson and Crick. One of her experiments led to Watson's discovery of DNA, and there is controversy that the credit should have been hers. Sadly, she died young.

Close, but not quite. One of her experiments provided Watson and Crick with the flash of insight they needed to determine the structure of DNA.
DNA had been discovered years previously by. . . a chemist named Friedrich Miescher in the late nineteenth century. The controversy is over the fact that they never credited her for the fact that the data was hers, nor did they ask her permission to use it.

She's one of my heroes :-)

I've heard many tales about Watson's character, from people who know him personally - none of them have made me like him much.

Glad you asked, the reference went over my non-scientific head as well.

Aww! How exciting. Three cats is a lot, ask me, I know. :) Mostly a lot of rampaging and a lot of fur. It sounds like you're handling the introduction of them into the household quite well, so they should all sort out their places at home soon enough.
