I suck at this

I'm trying to play with the customization options that LJ offers, but I can't find a color combination that I like - and I can't get the colors to go in the places that I want them to go. And I think I'm tired of this font, although most people probably look at my page on their friends pages and never see my page stand-alone anyway. I want some texture and something nicer anyway. Bleh. I wish I knew more about this stuff than I do. I really stink at this - you know when you know what you want - you can see it - but you can't make it into reality? Yeah. I'm there.

This is becoming rather annoying.

I think I'm about to go back to where I was when I started and try again later.

EDIT: Ok, so now I've done all this stuff with the customization in LJ, but I can't figure out how to APPLY the style. I can edit it to my heart's content. . . to a point, as I know zilch about colors and textures. . . but I haven't found how to apply it after it's been saved. Boy, do I feel stupid.

EDIT 2: Ah-hah! Figured out how to apply it, now if only I can figure out the code in that one line so that "colonyies" comes out to be "colonies", I'll be a much happier camper. Boy, do I still feel stupid.

I like what you have done, except that it is a bit washed out on a white background. Can you change the background, or is there something I am not doing to view it?

No, I hate the white. I just couldn't get any of the paler colors to look right. They looked like baby-pastel stuff and covered the whole page, boxes and all. I want a textured background color and then a darker text on top to contrast.

I'm looking at all the code now, and realizing that I would take forever to understand it. Erf.

But when you're using S2 like you are, everyone sees your layout when they leave you a comment. :)

What color are you after? I've done entirely too much webdesign so maybe I could help you hash it out.

Wish I could help you. I didn't change the colour options, just the text options. Is that where the typo is? If so, you should be able to fix it in the 'text' tab (I think) when you go to override the default.
