I'd say I don't believe it, but I'd be lying.

My lawnmower is dead.

The saga of the lawnmower continues. This time, I WILL get that replacement. I WILL.

Sears had heard me roar, and they will continue to hear me roar. Damn them if they didn't make the machine worse than when I sent it to them in the first place. *grmble*

Yesterday, I helped a fellow human being in need when a neighbor fell and broke her hip. I heard her cries for help, and it took me a few minutes to realize that they were, indeed, cries for help. Then another to locate her, then another neighbor who showed up at the same time quickly got an ambulance to the scene while I cradled her head in my lap and tried to keep her still and calm. I felt so terrible for not realizing more quickly what it was I was hearing.

I can still hear her cries in my mind. She's having surgery tomorrow, which means she may still be in the hospital on Wednesday when I go in for my tests. I'll check to see if they're moving her to a convalescent care facility, but if she's still at BH, I'll be sure to bring some flowers or a card for her. [livejournal.com profile] tactile, would someone coming from surgery for a broken hip be able to receive flowers? Would I be safer bringing a card, instead? I don't know what kind of rules they would have, if any.

Anyway, she was so frightened and so grateful. I just held her head, stroked her hair and reminded her to breathe slowly, focus on breathing, stay calm, stay still, they're coming - help is coming. I was scared and felt her fear and felt so badly that I had been late.

The rest of the day had been spent NOT mowing my lawn, talking to old friends, doing chores, and spending money I don't have at the grocery store. I needed that trip to the store, though, and I needed all that food - I've lost two more pounds, according to my scale. Stupid scale.

So I've got apples and peaches and celery sticks and carrots to satisfy the specialist who says I need fiber, and I've got meat and cream and milk (lactose free, thank you) and cookies and other snackies to fend off the phenomenon of the Incredible Shrinking Bronwyn. We'll see how much of it I manage to actually eat.

I'll have Jeff with me for part of the week (YAAAAAAAAY!!!!!), so that should help quite a bit.

All right, so we've finished decorating my PI's office for his birthday, and I've started cultures for tomorrow, and I've finished editing the chapter for Arthur, emeritus professor (wow, was THAT a mess!). I'm ready to go home, take care of my ailing GI tract, and find some dinner.

bye-bye

my lawnmower died a couple of weeks ago...(it's not a crappy sears mower)...but most of my yard is shaded under a canopy of trees...so i can put off getting my mower repaired or replaced until next spring...i hope your neighbor lady is feeling better...a broken hip must hurt like hell!...and eat...bronwyn eat...don't be wasting away!...and if you need to see the doctor again...see the doctor again!

Ack, only one of those posted.

The first one should have said that I hope your neighbor will be OK!

Plus, I'm pretty sure she'd be able to get flowers. I remember having received flowers right after my back surgery...
