Get a load o' this moronic bit of news.

Just one more example of yahoos in action as they push for a nanny government. Remember, we already have the obesity police gathering steam.

As usual, I am busy to the point of out and out frazzle. My typical day involves answering other people's questions, helping other people get their stuff done, going to seminars, teaching class, and not peeing when I need to. Note the obvious lack of working on my own project or writing of my own thesis. Today, I managed to write two introduction letters to PIs at U Wisconsin-Madison. Tomorrow will be letters to two or three PIs at U Iowa-Iowa City.

A donut will probably play a prominent and sugary role in my day, as will paying a rather large bursar bill for health center charges. This time, at least, I will have fundage to back up that payment, as the check from MegaDeath appeared in my mailbox yesterday.

That's right, I said yesterday. If you were paying attention, you'll recall that I just had the check sent to me last Friday after snarking at MegaDeath for sending the check to the health center instead of to me. After the sorry ma'ams and the I'll fix its, the check miraculously appeared in my box within 2 business days.

I'd just like to ask one question. Why the fuck do all the other MegaDeath checks take over a week to arrive? Sometimes more than two? This stuff's all coming from Dallas - we can get mail from there in 2-3 days - so what's the story here?

I can't wait to get out of here.

I think they're going a bit too far with the smoking stuff--sometimes characters have to smoke, it's part of their character. I can't see an R rating over that. I think we have a pretty good anti-smoking campaign running to counter whatever effects such smoking would make on children--and that's up to the parents.

The obesity link was hilarious. First of all, you'd think they'd find a copywriter, or editor, that could construct a readable English sentence, but that's just nitpicking.

The CDC considers putting music and lights in its stairwells in an effort to encourage stair use an effective way to combat obesity? I can't even think of a way to ridicule that, it's just so ludicrous on its very own.

Today, I managed to write two introduction letters to PIs at U Wisconsin-Madison.

My oldest (not age but duration) friend goes there. Or maybe she just teaches. I think she's GOT her Ph.D. Geez, the next time I speak to her I should find out that she's actually DOING there now. Ph.D. exams were last spring.

Hey baby!

The thing about obesity is partially true, tho. Most of us do choose the high-calorie, sedentary life-style, simply because it's easier or it tastes good. I know that the tastes good part was a big part of my problem, which is currently in the beginning stages of being fixed.
