Home again, home again

bronwynrhI wouldn't want to presume to speak for the boy, but we had a wonderful happy time on our trip to Houston. It was a joy to share my hometown (such as it is) and family and some of Houston's culinary treats with my Love. I was also very happy to share one of the most beautiful places with him - the Antique Rose Emporium.
I can't describe how much I was happy and at peace for those precious few days, so I'll just share some pictures with you. Maybe one or two of them will be worth the thousand words I can't seem to find.
Our first night was spent reveling in food, drink and an arcade game with my parents' friends and their children. We probably spent more money on the arcade game, encouraging the children to win all manner of stuffed toys, than was spent on dinner and drink for all 12 of us. Crazy fun - it was so cool to see my parents so happy and with some true friends. The crowd loved me and Jeff, and the children insisted that since The Family was altogether, it was the perfect time for Jeff to propose. Needless to say, both Jeff and I declined for now :-)
The next day, we had a delicious breakfast of powder-sugar beignets before piling into the car for a nice drive through the Texas countryside to visit the Antique Rose Emporium, Brenham (home of BlueBell Ice Cream, the best ice cream in the country), and the Enchanted Forest nursery, where mom and dad run the show. It was a fantastically beautiful day. I was a little shutter bug, taking shots of all the flowers that struck my fancy.

I hope I didn't kill any of your computers with all those pictures, but I love them so much, I just had to share them with you.
While I was home, I managed to pilfer my mom's photograph collection. I have some great pictures of myself as a chubby toddler, another great picture of my dad as a young sailor, and I finally got a hold of some beautiful pictures of my mommy. Those will be features for another day, once I've had a chance to play with the scanner.
For now, it's back to the bench. Now that all my presentations are finished and out of the way, and since I FINALLY don't have a debilitating migraine, it's time to put my nose to the grindstone and get cracking on the million things I have left to do.
The job search continues, and my prospects look very good. Nothing definite yet, but I'll let you know if there is any news on that front.

The girls thought it was adorable, though, so I guess it's worth it.

Mom runs the place and dad does all the taxes and money stuff - and they both load, unload, advise and sell. Someday (I hope) they'll have their own nursery.
They don't call it work. They call it Play. :-)
