Yeah, the Gideons put out the book, but you can get it for cost of publishing at their website... something like $4 including shipping. They're in the business of giving things away, remember. I'm sure the spam wasn't from anyone legit. (Though the same could be said about LifeWay and other assorted Christian-centered profit-based chains. Argh.)

I refuse to go see Passion because I hate the commercialism surrounding it and know that, if I want to know about the suffering of Christ, I can always pick up and read one of several accounts I've got lying around.

I really hate for-profit "Christian" businesses. They cater to people too stupid to understand the paradox of it.

Now if you want to create a "Family-friendly" or otherwise conservative business, that's all fine and good. I *hate* going to most gyms because of the scantily-clad hardbodies that tend to distract young men like myself. :-)

But "Yo-god?" I'm not even going to go there. I do like the idea of Yoga (which is a great activity, btw) without the mysticism, however.

Trust me - I'm well aware of the GOOD work the Gideons do... they were just the unfortunate brunt of my serio-comic rant, since the bibles they place are known to be free for the taking..
I have not ACTUALLY gotten spam from them.. but I have already seen and deleted unread spam messages with that sort of thing in the subject line.

I'm also disgusted by the attempts of the profiteers to market worthless junk based on the movie.. I think Gibson may have had the right sort of inspiration to make the movie... but the money-changers and idolators are trying to corrupt whatever good may have been done.
