Road trip

I'm hitting the road for Evanston, IL tomorrow for a 'business' trip. By 'business' I mean what looks to be about an hour or so of lab work on Thursday and a few hours on Friday. Or so I'm told. The rest of my time will be my own to do with as I please.

I'd be pretty psyched about this if (a) I had money to shop with, which I don't and (b) my boy could come with me, which he can't. But seeing as how I'll be staying at the beautiful Hotel Orrington and that UIowa issued a $100 cash advance to me (!) I probably shouldn't complain.

Not too much, anyway.

I have a couple of friends in the area, and I hope they'll be able to drive in to meet me for tapas or something. Otherwise, I'll window-shop and play WarCraft.

I'll think of it as a paid Spring Break, of sorts. So I may be loitering about the instant messaging circuits tomorrow and Thursday nights. Maybe I'll see some of you there.

Nice vacation?

Evenston isn't too bad, plus NU campus is beautiful. You can always hop the train and head downtown to do some real window shopping on Michigan Ave. Nothing like seeing really expensive stuff for sale...

If you have the time, maybe we could venture up there and have dinner...

Unfortunately, I pulled into town today with a migraine, so I'm staying hotel-bound tonight. :-/ If I'm back up this way again though, I'll be sure we catch each other. I think I'm going to head out Aurora-way tomorrow night to meet up with a couple of friends.

What little I saw of Evanston didn't look to bad. I may explore it a little tomorrow afternoon.

Warcraft? *ears perk up*

World of Warcraft or Warcraft 3?

You could do the ho-hum window shopping, but I'm sure there's more fun to be had. Go find a park and feed some ducks. If you can beg, borrow, or steal someone's GPS unit, you could go GeoCaching.

Warcraft 3

I think all I'm up for is the humdrum windowshopping, but if I come across a park, I'll stroll through that, too. I'm not much for meandering when I'm alone.

Tonight I'm going to take my migraine'd self into the shower - which has a terry-cloth curtain, by the way - then wrap myself in the hotel robe and chill out. I don't think I'll even play warcraft. My eyeballs arent' in the mood. Poor head.

Woo! Paid trips are always fun... and even more fun when there's a per diem involved.

If you do get on IM, say hi! I'll be hanging around my parents' computer a lot...
