Happy birthday, Baby

Today is My Man's birthday.

He got carded at the grocery store. We both agree that that's getting old. In fact, it's downright obnoxious. He noted that I have a lot of gray hair, which I do for 28, and I've been telling him that for a while. Hy-Vee must have better lighting than our house.

We cleaned. We tidied up. I wrapped a gift that hid from me yesterday when I was wrapping all my other gifts. The prezzies are nestled under our cute little 4 1/2 foot pre-lit tree, for which I had just enough ornaments to decorate.

The man made gumbo. I baked an apple pie, peanut butter cookies, and sugar cookies from scratch. The apple pie and peanut butter cookies are delicious (if I do say so myself), but the sugar cookies are a bit. . . meh. I thought the "Easy" recipe on the Penzey's Vanilla bottle would be simply divine, but I think that recipes with the word "easy" in the title are, by definition, anything but divine.

And we wind up our evening cuddling with the pup and kitties on the couch, watching the first series in the Looney Tunes Collection.

I surprised him today, and he was happy, and that always makes me happy.

My wife got carded into her late 30s. We got a 4 1/2 pre-lit, too, and I'm hooked on short and pre-lit now.
