Holy cow, Google Earth ROCKS!

I just zoomed right into Ras Tanura and straight to the roof of my old house. Well, one of my old houses. I'm going to pinpoint the rest of them, and then I want to share it with you.

So, for those of you who know how to do this sort of thing. . . How do I get you guys to the same view and with the placemarkers? I want y'all to have a tour of my ol' home town :)

Thanks to the very generous Corto, you can now see my old stomping grounds. Have a look around (I think you need Google Earth to see it, but it's a quickie download and well worth it! Not just for me, of course.) and enjoy the Seaside City. I can see many of the changes that have taken place since I left, but the most important landmarks are still there.

Thanks, Andy!

in the lower right corner of the Google Earth screen is an icon for "email".

When you click it, you are asked if you want to email the image or the "location". If you email the location, the resulting email has a "google earth LINK" file attached. (it's a "kmz" file).

So you could put the kmz file on a host and put a regular html link code snippet in your journal post so some one could dl the link.

Alas, I have nowhere to host. Boo.
Speaking of hosting, you never sent those pics to me. . . is that hosty thingy gone now, or is it available for my abuse one more time?

No, it's a Gated Community on the Arabian Gulf, silly boy. Although the words "Gated Community" mean something entirely different here than there.

Do explain.

Oh yes, I have heard of it. Ras Tanura is the compound where expatriate westerners are...hmm...confined? during their employment in Saudi Arabia. Right?
