I'm sitting on a plastic filebox because my office is in such a shambles, I can't get my chair over here.

Life has been busy since I said "good riddance" to the lab. Painting, grouting, tearing up carpet and sweating nearly to death are just a few of the pleasures we've enjoyed these past several days.

It's not over yet, but the open house is on Sunday.

The RAGBRAI came to town today, which meant there were swarms of bicyclists absofuckinlutely EVERYWHERE. Now, I've been on a few organized rides, and I seem to recall taking a pretty direct, one-way route through the towns. Leave it to Iowa - probably Coralville, specifically - to direct the riders up and down every major road in town. And across them, too. There was no rhyme or reason to it! It's probably all the fault of the Coralville city council, since they are the brainiacs who decided to simultaneously tear up the only two roads in and out of town. These are also the fumducks who didn't complete the road projects in time for RAGBRAI, so the disorganized riders could be disorganised in the gravel or in the one lane left to drivers between said gravel and the big orange pylons.

Brilliant!

And now, there is a band playing in the park just a few blocks away, so sleep is out of the question - for me, that is. Jeffrey, as usual, took himself to bed an hour ago and has been sound asleep ever since. Must be nice.

I'm not going to hang around the computer anymore, because I'm starting to go numb. I'll go occupy myself with crochet and television until it quiets down or I get too drowsy to care - figures I took my medicine over an hour late tonight, so Mr. Sandman won't be here for a while, yet.

The envelopes and paper for my wedding invitations arrived today. They're quite pretty, if I may pat myself and [livejournal.com profile] travellight on the back a little bit. I'm sad to say all that paper will just have sit there looking pretty for a while, until the chaos has been beaten back again.

Alright, my butt is numb and I'm too cranky.
Going now.

Yes, it's beautiful. And that green! Wow!

I'm still shocked at the dark brown, although I chose it and I love it. I guess it's just hard for me to believe that I can get the writing to show up.

Stupid, really, since I've written one on the sample you sent to me, and it looks great!

At least... it's a good kind of chaos? *hugs* Hang in there!

It's like having an anxiety attack every three days, and then being able to breathe again for one. Lather, rinse, repeat.

It will end, though, so I'm not too worried - just trying to keep myself out of Freak Out mode.
