Mommy at work
May. 10th, 2007 10:44 amI started back at work yesterday, part-time. Well, full-time really, but I'm using up my benefit time to work 4-hour days until June 1. Being here for a little while each day is going to be good for my sanity. I have a reason to get dressed and put my face on every day, which always cheers me up. When I start back full-time, we hope to maintain my sanity by having Samuel visit me for lunch every day. Mom is willing to bring him, which is really fantastic of her, considering the price of gas and the fact that it's a 20-minute commute each way.
*knock on wood* Samuel's been sleeping "through the night" for five of the last six nights. He and I have fallen asleep between 10 and 11, and he's been waking me up around 4 to eat. We're up from 4 until 5 or so, and he sleeps again. He's a little more fitful for the rest of the early morning, but he is sleeping. This morning I had to wake him up at 9 so I could change and feed him before leaving for work.
And the best part is, he's a morning person. He was all smiles when I woke him up today. It's wonderful, although I hate to leave such an alert and happy baby who's ready to play with me. Then again, I would feel more guilty to leave him crying, so I'll take what I've got :)
Time to go and. . . try to work or something. Catching up with coworkers is more fun, though!

Date: May 10th, 2007 08:07 pm (UTC)I thought I'd check in after many months of not hearing from you. I'm still on AIM under the same name as always. Also, my new web address is toolazytofail.com.
Glad to hear that things are going well for you!

Date: May 11th, 2007 07:13 pm (UTC)You are so lucky to have loving grandparents taking care of Sam while you are working. No worries about the care and love he gets while you are out. And of course, there is the cost of daycare which can really be ridiculous. So glad he is sleeping the nights away. Getting a 'full' nights sleep does wonders for everyone.
Wish I could see Sam.
Happy 'hallmark day' - your first Mother's Day.
