Good morning

There's cold weather on its way, shepherded by some storms that are said to be quite threatening. Anticipating this, I harvested daffodils this morning.
I have about two dozen of them in a clear green vase at the end of my bench, looking O so pretty. I wish I had a camera so I could share them with you
I only harvested half of them, though. I hated to take all the color out of the yard in one go - that seemed so. . . brutal. But then I came in and Dave had this doom and gloom tale of storms and hail to tell, so maybe it will be a full daffodil harvest, after all. Better to have the color in the house than to see them squished in the yard, huh?
Meanwhile I have cannas, a lavender and a firecracker plant in my basement that are very anxious to be outside. The cannas have sprouted and are looking very pale (in the science world we call that etiolating), but I can't bring them up *quite* yet because of the frost threat this weekend. Poor things. Just a few more days in the basement, then on Sunday or Monday I'll bring them outside and tuck them in at night if the chill threatens :-)
I LOVE SPRING!!!

Date: March 28th, 2003 06:09 am (UTC)I'm still in Asheville, North Carolina on business and won't return home until nearly 11 pm tonight. Ugh.
It is, however, quite lovely here. I have a few journal entries that I'll upload to LJ when I return. Oh how I wish I had access to the Internet while I'm traveling!
