There's cold weather on its way, shepherded by some storms that are said to be quite threatening. Anticipating this, I harvested daffodils this morning.

I have about two dozen of them in a clear green vase at the end of my bench, looking O so pretty. I wish I had a camera so I could share them with you

I only harvested half of them, though. I hated to take all the color out of the yard in one go - that seemed so. . . brutal. But then I came in and Dave had this doom and gloom tale of storms and hail to tell, so maybe it will be a full daffodil harvest, after all. Better to have the color in the house than to see them squished in the yard, huh?

Meanwhile I have cannas, a lavender and a firecracker plant in my basement that are very anxious to be outside. The cannas have sprouted and are looking very pale (in the science world we call that etiolating), but I can't bring them up *quite* yet because of the frost threat this weekend. Poor things. Just a few more days in the basement, then on Sunday or Monday I'll bring them outside and tuck them in at night if the chill threatens :-)

I LOVE SPRING!!!

ME, too!

I was just looking at your forecast lows - 28 and our's - 32. YUCK! All my roses have set buds, the dutch iris is in bloom and yep, being the optimist, I've planted some tender plants. I always rush the season. I like getting dirt under my nails and wrecking my cuticles. You probably have this website marked but just in case... http://www.srh.noaa.gov/data/forecasts/INZ062.php?warncounty=INC105&city=Bloomington

I'm usually overanxious and rush the season, too :-) I'm restraining myself as best I can!

Etiolating, huh? The only things I remember from my botany class are parenchyma and sclerenchyma cells.

I'm still in Asheville, North Carolina on business and won't return home until nearly 11 pm tonight. Ugh.

It is, however, quite lovely here. I have a few journal entries that I'll upload to LJ when I return. Oh how I wish I had access to the Internet while I'm traveling!

Asheville is lovely, indeed. I didn't get to see much of it, but what I did see was a teasing glimpse that made me wish I could stay :-)

I've missed you, Dallas! Have a safe trip home.

I was in Asheville two years ago and I absolutely fell in love with the place. Enjoy that scenery while you are there, it is just wonderfu.

I love spring as well. And I can't wait to have a yard that I can plant flower beds in... but for now, I will just have to enjoy the other aspects of spring that make it so great... the grass turning green, buds showing up on trees...

Green. . . mmmmmm. . . Every day I wander my yard checking every living thing to see who's deciding to bud today :-)

It's wonderful!

I'm trying, but the scent of my daffodils makes me want to run outside. Then I see the 67 degrees on my weather channel desktop monitor and it cements that desire. . . *sigh*.

I'm excited for spring fling, but I'm going to make sure I have some GOOD gloves! No more wasp stings for me :-)

I am an avid gardener and Spring of course, has come right on schedule here in California. I haven't done much in the way of planting, but last years flowers are blooming and there is the smell of "Night Blooming Jasmine" heavy in the air. I have a huge lavender plant here, I hope yours gets to be out of the basement soon. :-)

Hmmm... this means I'll have to bring my tomato plant inside to keep it safe...

I miss seeing flowers! I'll just have to live vicariously through your garden, Bronwyn.

I wish I had a green thumb. I like them but sadly the feeling isn't mutual.
*sigh*
I have a tendency to kill plants.

I too love spring.
