During a conversation with my buddy, my pal, my best friend [livejournal.com profile] ashfault76 I just used the word, "indubitably".

If it wasn't already, it's official now. I am a nerd.

I wish so much that you guys were here to see my boss and my coworker right now. This interaction is what spurred the conversation that brought on my amusement and my use of that fun word anyway. Wow oh wow oh wow.

Not so much a nerd as the person who remembers the jingle for "Crispy Critters" breakfast cereal...

Animated animal thing dressed as a Bigtop Ringleader: Here come Crispy Crit-ters, that good, wholesome bunch!
That low-sugar cereal with lots of cr-unch!
It's indubitably-
Animated kids:(Indubitably?)
Ringleader: INdubitably-
Kids:(InDUbitably!)
All: DELICIOUS!!!

"indubitably" is part of [livejournal.com profile] boozysmurf's repertoire. I'm not as impressed with "indubitably" as I am with "quagmire". :)

Believe it or not, I've got another breakfast cereal reference for that one...

I like to put sugar on my Cheerios sometimes, and some of it inevitably falls off and settles to the bottom. My favorite part of the meal is getting to scoop up that sugar quagmire from the bottom of the bowl! (;

Quagmire is a good one, but personally I enjoy 'discombobulated,' 'sartorial,' 'saturnine,' and 'facade,' and 'platitudes.' ;-)

I enjoy discombobulated too, but I usually modify it to 'discombobbled'. I know it's incorrect, but I have more fun saying it out loud that way.

I'm glad to know I'm in such good company :-)

In a staff meeting I was rant and raving about a safety violation (a particularly serious) and apparently used the word egregious to describe it.....I still hear about it.

I say....that looks like an egregious lunch you have there. Etc. etc.

Ahh yes. Use a three-penny word in conversation once and it will haunt your for months. I, too have been there.

I came *this close* to buying the word-a-day desk calendar this year, but I settled for the kitty cartoons calendar instead. :-/ Wishing I'd chosen the former now :-)

Heh. Maybe I can convince someone to give a dictionary to me for my birthday - just to keep me in practice. I'd pick a word a day for you guys, too. (NERD ALERT!)

"Mrs. Byrne's Dictionary of Unusual, Obscure, and Preposterous Words" I'll send it to you. Phil is checking bookstores today... Wonderful book! Because most of our friends are nerds, too. We had to use this book to play fictionary - Websters just didn't work with this group. We passed our copy on to your Mom and Dad years ago while ya'll were in Saudi and I'm sure it is long gone now.
