Four days shy of 10 months old and he still has no teeth. They're coming, though. He blows kisses and waves bye-bye when he's in the mood, and he's more frequently standing hands-free, saying "uh oh" and singing with me. Samuel loves music and although he doesn't clap, he drums up a storm and has a grand old time deafening us in the process. His favorite activity by far though, after chewing on everything, is dancing.
When he hears music he likes - from one of his favorite toys, the radio or tv, or even my singing - he breaks out his best grin and rocks out.
We're still nursing, but he eats solids very well too. Now, in addition to creating semi-homemade chicken, noodle and veggie meals for him, I've started giving him purees of meals we've made for ourselves. First up was beef and vegetable soup, and he loved it - spices and all! He likes macaroni and cheese and ham, too. It seems that comfort foods are the wisest place to begin his culinary adventures.
I feel foolish sometimes at the wonder I have for him, but it's like discovering life all over again through his eyes. It's so simple and beautiful and ... well, it's more fun than I ever expected it to be.
I'm exhausted though, and it shows in everything I write. My disappointment in my declining ability to express myself means I often prefer not to write anything at all.
And with that, I will yawn once more and get back to work.
