Me too! I have all their albums except the last one (Around the Sun?), and I'm glad to see they haven't given up. Although I'm less happy to see that "Superman" is being used in Toyota truck commercials.
I have Around the Sun - it's not my favorite, but there are a couple of good tracks. I'm happy that their new album has more of their old sound.
They'll be in Chi-town in June and I'm hoping against hope that we can go. Jeff's been a fan since the beginning, but stopped listening around the time I "found" them - Out of Time was my first REM album and I backed up as far as Eponymous.
Our first Christmas, Jeff gave me all the albums from Document back :)
This is awesome, listening to a concert while I'm working. OOH! Animal! Love it! :)
I dragged my ex to a show back around the time that Bill Berry had his aneurysm (it was the first show back after that in fact and Michael Stipe kicked off the show with "welcome to the aneurysm world tour") and he was surprised by how great the show was. I think he thought it was going to be some boring thing but yeah, he ended up liking it a lot.
Oooh! So you got to hear a bunch of Monster live, then? Awesome.
I saw them in 2003. It was so wonderful, I cried. And let's not even talk about my response when Michael Stipe took off his shirt... woah, is that boy ripped! I told my buddy Dave that I wanted to lick him, just once. Dave replied that was fine, so long as it was just the once - he wanted the rest :)
