Jeff made a delicious spaghetti sauce on Sunday, and Samuel had his first Pasketti Experience. He enjoyed it on Sunday and did pretty well with the spaghetti noodles, but he had an absolute ball on Monday, when we had the leftover sauce over rotini.
The kid went nuts.

And, a video from 5 days ago. He's a Walkin' Man! He refuses to speak, but this kid loves to walk!
In other news, I saw a surgeon today to see what he would say about my "hernia". Turns out, it's not a hernia, but (get this for wastebin terminology) "round ligament pain". And he said he'd not do anything about it anyway since I'm pregnant. Ok, so I'll accept that it's not a hernia. What I have a problem with is being told that I just have to deal with this "round ligament pain" which is an awfully benign term for something that hurt more than anything I've ever felt.
This from someone who's had migraines for 20 years and several kidney stones - one of which was 7 mm and required surgery. I know from pain, people, and this "round ligament pain" was ri-damn-diculous.
I know I'm an artard for not seeing someone about it between pregnancies, but what would they have done about it?
So now I'm stuck knowing it'll get worse as the baby grows, knowing that I'll likely be unable to handle labor without medication, and thus knowing that I'm going to have the host of adverse responses I always have with anaesthesias and narcotics and the possibility that the baby will be affected, as well.
I'm definitely going to hook up with a yoga instructor, maybe they can help... if I want any hope of doing this drug-free, I'm going to need some serious help. Self-hypnosis, maybe? Lordy, this sucks.

Date: April 15th, 2008 06:37 pm (UTC)I hope this time around, you get some decent folks.
OK, here are some of the suggestions I've heard, already:
using a belly belt (when it gets big enough), swimming, changing positions (sleeping on the opposite side) and finding a massage therapist with sports and prenatal training.
All the links I dug up on Google seem to back these up, as well.
*hugs!*

Date: April 16th, 2008 01:48 am (UTC)It seems that it should be simple, but noooooo. "You're pregnant" seems to equate with "not touchin' that with a 10-foot laporascopic pole."
I may agitate some more, but it's incredibly frustrating to have people look at you and you know they're thinking, "hysterical."
Acupuncture

Date: April 28th, 2008 06:09 am (UTC)Since the good doctor really had no suggestions, make sure you get a second opinion. Good luck, sweets, and let us know what's going on.
