I finally finished Samuel's quilt this weekend. I'm unabashedly proud of it and itching like mad to make another one!

Speaking of which, Michelle, how are those squares coming along?

Seriously, I need to make one or two of these for someone else so I can afford the fabric for Spawn's quilt. This is going to be a habit, I think.

Oh, wow. That's really beautiful. That must have taken forever. I didn't know people even still did that. Where do you even get fabric for that anymore?

It only took a year because I worked on it in spits and spurts. The pattern was really easy - I didn't have to individually piece all those squares. Lots of people still do it :)

I prefer vintage reproduction fabrics, but you have to find the right quilt shop for a decent supply. Online is best.

Huh. Who knew?

Do you have a, er, loom or something large-like to hold it all together?

nope.

I pieced the front, sandwiched it with the batting and the backing and then basted the whole thing together so it could stay in one piece when I machine-quilted.

It's absolutely beautiful! I'm amazed.

I have't had a chance to cut any squares yet...I've been out of town and my house is a wreck and I am sorting clothes and trying to get the outgrown out of the closets simultaneously with my "cutting" project. I will definitely keep you posted.

That's gorgeous.

Was it hard to find the time to do it?

Not really. I could have been done much sooner if I was better at managing my time :)

Samuel's naptimes were essential.
