The mower is fixed. . . well, so saith Sears - we'll see how fixed the mower is when I get it home and try it out. Now, how will I get it home? Do I ask my advisor to help me again (he helped me drop it off) or bug a truck-endowed grad student?

I know they'll both say yes, so it's a matter of deciding on whom I feel less bad imposing.

(See, this is why I want a new car - A Honda Element would be real nice. I hear Click and Clack love it!)

Lessee, I picked up my paycheck today - the one that will pay my June bills. The one that Dave reminded me is supposed to be for paying May bills because I'm now paid AFTER the fact, not BEFORE the fact. Damn. So I've been paid for May, June and July. . . altogether, in essence . . . and I won't see another dime until the end of August.

Let me tell you how thrilled that makes me.

..... .....

Can you feel it?

I thought so. Meh. I'll survive, I'm sure. I usually do. *wink*

I've got a few mortgage refi balls in the air, I'm going to see who can give me the best deal. I hope someone can give me a worthwhile deal. Is it sick to want so much to benefit from a time of war and trauma? Oh, wait - this isn't benefiting, this is saving my broke ass. All right then. Guilt alleviated. If I can save $100 a month on my mortgage, I won't get that sick, sinking feeling every month.

I also won't get that sick sinking feeling every time I want to give and simply can't because I have nothing left to give but the lint in my pocket and the cat fuzz in the corners of my living room. Mom always says that charity begins at home. Well, until I have more than $10 to my name at the end of every month, that little nugget of wisdom will certainly remain the credo of this household!

Student #1 is plodding along. He'll get there. Eventually.

Student #2 (high school rising senior) showed up unannounced today. Uh. Regroup. It was all right, I regrouped and got her setup at the computer, but for a while there it was a little strange. I was bouncing back and forth between my bench, Joey's bench and Alison at the computer.

*weeble wobble*

So there's the dullness of my day :-D Hey, it kept me busy. I did cut out early to get the paycheck, though. It felt so weird to be home by 5:15! I'm sure I'll make it up tomorrow, somehow.

Ok, DINNER TIME!

I wholeheartedly agree with you that the payroll system at this university is FUBARed.

Good luck with the students!
