So I see many of you have been busy with parties and sech. . . I've been sorta busy sorta lazy. Mmmm yeah.
Work has been interesting lately. My own project is coming along, but everything is taking a lot of time and I'm back doing the damn computer work - AGAIN. This time, I've figured out the solution - for real this time, with NO HELP FROM DENMARK, thankyouverymuchtheywereWRONGandscrewedmeupforthepastmonth! - and now I have to it all. over. again. Jeez. Then there's the paper that I and my PI are due to be co-authors on with some collaborators. Whadda mess that is.
It is such a mess, we don't know whether we want to be a part of it or not anymore, and it's, in Clay's word, a quagmire.
I had Sears out to my house today. For the sixth service call for my lawn mower in 2 months. Yes, that's right. Six service calls in 2 months. The guy showed up 2 hours early, when I was still almost-naked and groggy-asleep in my bed. I rushed to dress and made it outside within a couple of minutes to find the serviceman by his van with my mower taken apart. He tried a couple of things and then started it up. It choked, coughed and died. Then he took apart the carburetor and cleaned it - cleaned it thoroughly, he says - started it up again, and then mowed half my lawn. This time, it sounded pretty good and didn't cough much.
He left after handing me a receipt showing me that I just got $137 of service for free and a book of coupons (I have two more books just like it). He told me to call again if the mower gives me any more trouble.
I did manage to mow the rest of lawn with only a few coughs - the mower didn't quit on me. We'll see how it does next week. I gotta tell you guys, I'd be happier with a new carburetor - or a new mower. I still feel like I got a lemon.
Heh. And I bet you all thought the lawnmower saga was over!
I'm not even going to talk about the refi saga because it's stressing me out too much. Just thinking about it makes me sick right now. I'll write about it if/when I have some good news.
Here it is, 4:30. I meant to go to work today, but I haven't. Oops.
New Hampshire on Friday! I need that trip so badly. Hmm. Laundry and packing. Can't procrastinate with that.
Ok, shutting up now.
