Oh dear. Now Shaun at Sears Customer Relations is developing a crush on me? Although this could benefit my efforts to get my fubar'd lawnmower repaired or replaced, it could cause some. . . well, jealousy for Certain Parties whose place of business lies only 500 yards away from that of our dear Shaun's.

*grin* Hoo boy.

So anyway. I called back today because I hadn't heard from the tech manager yesterday, as promised by Shaun. Shaun answered, was quite happy to hear from me (surprise!) and then put me on hold for several minutes while he talked to the tech manager. What's the deal now? The deal now is that I am to take my mower in to the service center (again!) with instructions for it to have a complete work-up and look-over. Shaun is putting notations on my account to that effect. The putative results of this effort are completely unknown to me, but I made it clear to Shaun that I will not be satisfied to get back a mower that works all right the first time but then fails again - just like what has happened for the last 5 months.

I was extremely gratified to hear that he agrees. He said that if he were in my position, he'd be extremely peeved. (Well, no sheist, Sherlock!) When I drop off the mower, I'm going to make it very very clear that I am looking for a replacement, not a tweak. I will remind them of their "replace after 4 service calls" policy.

Yeah. Watch that not fly. :-D

Tito, our Argentinian visiting scientist, is very nice. I may try practicing my Spanish. He says my accent is very good. I think he's just being nice, because I know I'm quite rusty. I think I'll try a little bit though to practice while he's here. I do miss speaking the language because I remember how good it felt when it rolled more easily off my tongue. I know mamma remembers that well, too. {hug}

Clay and I are chugging away at the paper - I've finished up the statistics and he's working them into the body. I need to write up some results and then we're going to send it off to some colleagues for their thoughts. I can't wait to get it out. Then comes the anxiety of peer review!

And then begins the job search. Eeks. One thing at a time, right? Oh, but the job search will be fun! I'll finally feel as though I'm getting somewhere!

I feel the itch to do some benchwork, so I guess I'll do a little finishing on Joey's project, then see if I can figure out where the hell I left off on my own project before the paper and Joey swamped me.

I hope you guys are having a great day so far!

I can't wait to hear if this is the end of the lawnmower saga.

You should get Ovaltine to sponsor you or something... then you could get a magic decoder ring that would provide the secret password that would get you to the person who could fix your mower...?

I think Papa John's should sponsor me.

Don't know why, just a thought.

Totally random thought.

A decoder ring would be great. It would go well with the Magic Excuse Ball Adrienne gave me for my birthday this year :-)
