It's Sunday and I'm at the lab, trying to get some work done. Yesterday, dad, and I did some outdoor chores - I washed my car and attacked the pokeweed, then fed the plants in my garden while dad cleaned my gutters and mowed the lawn. Then I called [livejournal.com profile] kendokamel and the three of us went out to try and find ourselves some time on one of the local lakes.

Pooper, no lake-time. The fates were against us, so we wound up hanging out and having a picnic, sunning ourselves and just chit-chatting for a couple of hours. It was nice to be outdoors, but I was bummed to miss out on the water-time. At least Mel didn't get crispy-crittered.

Dad and I went grocery-shopping afterward for a few necessities, and started off at what was once my favorite grocery store. It is now a horribly over-priced place that gives me a near-heart attack every time I pick up an item I usually buy. The only upside was that we saw the one-and-only John Mellencamp in the store. He and his young model-wife were walking the aisles just ahead of us, and wound up in line right in front of us. Our checker was sorely disappointed when another checker offered to take the Mellencamp's order, as the lady in front of them was taking some time.

My dad was clueless, although I softly mentioned to him who He was, and although we'd mentioned Mellencamp when we'd passed his huge house by Lake Monroe twice earlier in the day. *sigh* Dads. :-)

We then had to go to another store to get some other items that wouldn't break our bank, then it was off to home, dinner, and bed.

I read Dancing Barefoot in one go last night before falling asleep. Not bad. I'd already read most of it over at WWDN, so I was mostly looking forward to SpongeBob VegasPants, which did not disappoint. I'm looking forward to Just a Geek Maybe I'll be able to write my own book someday :-)

Anywho, back to work. Gotta cut back on the old elljay somewhat this week. Somehow. You guys are so damned prolific! I can't keep up without getting in trouble or behind at work. Maybe I'll print you up and read you on the plane on Friday. :-/ Slow down or something :-)

Mellencamp? Cool!

The Saga of SpongeBob Vega$Pants made me laugh and almost made me cry. It made me hate Shatner.

Loved that story.

Your reaction to the book was the same as mine. Bring on JAG!
(and he's got a couple of other book deals in the works, as mentioned on The Screensavers on Friday night)

And here I was beginning to suspect that it was just an urban legend that he still lived in Bloomington.... heehee!
