I did it. I called the Washington, DC HQ of Senator John Kerry's campaign to let them know that one of their employees was abusing their e-mail system. I received an exceptionally sympathetic and thorough response.

After two phone calls returned to me from Boston and DC HR offices, I have been informed that Mr. Jackson has been told never to contact me again using the John Kerry e-mail, or any other form of contact. Granted, the senator and his folks have no control over anything but the John Kerry servers.

Yes, I did it.

Why?

1. Our tax dollars (those of us who are US citizens) have gone to fund presidential campaigns. Individual donors have given money in good faith to the Senator. That money was meant for official campaign business; it was not meant to pay for personal communication from drunk men to their estranged ex-girlfriends.

2. I have asked him explicitly and implicitly to cease communication with me, and he has not. I consider this harassment, and it is wrong. I have to stand up for myself and do anything, and I mean anything, I can do prevent further harm to myself.

3. Now he knows I'm serious.

I already know some of you will think I overstepped the bounds, that I shouldn't have done what I did. That's for you and your own heart and mind to decide. I did not hesitate. I have reached a point in my life where it is simply unacceptable to allow any abuse, no matter how small it may seem to some, go through me. I certainly will not accept it from an abuser 6 years gone.

Enough is enough. I can't let them beat me anymore. I won't.

Edit: By the way, if any of you would care to read about how I dealt with this the last time he crashed my life, you can go to the Weird section of my Memories page. 10-18 and 10-21 of last year. I guess he was a little early this year. /sarcasm

If they do, they should really sit down and take a moment to think about it.

Good. For. You. I am so glad that you did this. Hopefully now he will lay off and get on with his life.

*hugs*

There's no way this can possibly be overstepping bounds -- it's setting much-needed boundaries.
