I have to ask
Jan. 12th, 2004 10:40 pmAt 10.06GB and counting, am I really compressing anything?
10:40pm and I'm still at work. I have to be back here in. . . 9 hours. This better be done soon. Lord, I still need to transfer the tar.gz file over to the MDSS for the robots to play with.
I think I'll save that step for morning.
10.17GB and still going. . . relatively speaking, it's almost done.
I hope.
Edited to add: I just read "tar.gz file" as tar-jizz file and nearly snorted water out my nose. I must be tired, even my gutter-thought brain cells are losing it. 10.3GB
Edit #2 10:45 pm and it's finished!!! 10.408657. . . gigs. *whew*!
And it only took, what, 3.5 hours?
Good night!

Date: January 12th, 2004 11:09 pm (UTC)You got some kinda old computer with valves and steam pipes?
I don't think it gets steamy in the IT office downstairs. . .
Date: January 13th, 2004 05:49 am (UTC)When I came in this morning (7:30, dark and early), the command line screen said that it took 4:55 to transfer the 10-point-whatever gig tar.gz file from the server to the MDSS.
Glad I didn't stay around to watch that!
