I just found out that I was not deemed eligible for the job at the CDC. The letter said I didn't have the required experience. Not that any level of experience was specified, beyond a PhD or commensurate education + experience. Oh well. I wasn't expecting to get the job, but I'd hoped there'd be a conversation, at least.

*sigh*

On to the next.

Hey. Let's get busy on those little profiles, eh?

Yep. I've grown a thick research skin, now I need to toughen my "please accept me, love me, hire me" skin :-)

I'm going to get a great position, I know it. Once my paper comes out. . . plus the other 4 I have on tap. . . they'll be knockin' on MY door! Or at least, they may be more likely to open the door when I come a-knockin'.

When they say wacky things like that about "experience," I always suspect that the job was wired for someone working there already or with connections. Another tipoff on that is if the job description is very specialized or has an odd combination of specializations.

Government agencies are required by law to go through a "competitive" selection. But very often that is a farce.
