Living on the space coast, we're always told we're a terrorist/russki target. Really? "Yes, along with 60 other potential targets throughout FLORIDA". Sixty in Florida? "Yes, among 1200 targets counrywide."

Allrightythen. What you're saying is that we're no bigger a target than, say, Kansas City. Right. Gimmee a break.

I guess I hate the alarmist mentality. But I've always thought US aggressors would come from the middle east, not the Soviet Union. (I'd have put my money on Libya, but I missed by several hundred miles).

I guess you realistically recognized RT's potential danger.

And it's really lame that it's not getting good coverage on the news. A friend from australia told me how astonished she was that Americans have no appreciation for international news.

No kidding. It wasn't hard to imagine when, back in '90, they put those concrete barricades around all the public buildings in RT. . . but now the danger seems so much more immediate. Strange considering that missles were flying overhead back then.

Maybe I really was just too young to understand. I was more angry about the blackened skies and gulf waters and never thought of being afraid.

Amen. I'd say I miss CNN International, but even they were choosy with their news. We'd be in our 'safe room' during an air raid, we could the bangs of SCUDS landing somewhere nearby. . . what was CNN talking about? Israel.

It was allllll about Israel.

My dad called the CNN reporter and complained to him about it. Reminded him that there were 40k Americans in KSA who might like a little information on the SCUDS flying through OUR neighborhoods. Dinks.

BBC isn't much better. I just stay away from the big networks and stick to Reuters and local sources to get my information. I don't give a rip about Scott Peterson or Michael Jackson :-D

Remember, though, that the Saudis depend as much on us and foreign labor than even we do on them. At least we have reserves and know-how. They're floating on the shit, but don't have what it takes to pump and process it. Ok, some of them do - I'm not trying to over-generalize, but the Saudi culture I know is one that is largely uninterested in hard work or physical labor.

Rather than leading us down the path to disruption of our energy supplies with our britches down, Pres. Bush presented a plan to reduce our dependence on foreign oil. Suggest you review the current admins' position before tarring them with responsibility for our ongoing supply problem.
